1. Information we collect
Champi collects the following information:
- Providers: name, WhatsApp number, service type, location (district and region), years of experience, service description, and accepted payment methods.
- Identity document: if you choose to verify your profile, we collect your DNI, RUC, or Carné de Extranjería number. It is stored encrypted and used solely to validate your identity and display the "Verified" badge.
- Photos: up to 5 photos of your work, which are publicly displayed on your profile.
- Approximate location: if you share your GPS location, we round it to a precision of approximately 1.1 km (district level) before storing it. We do not keep your exact location.
- Bot conversations: the full content of your conversations with our WhatsApp bot is stored encrypted and is accessible to our support team for quality and support purposes.
- Clients: WhatsApp number (for bot interaction) and search queries.
- Reviews: ratings and comments. The author's phone number is stored internally but is never displayed publicly.
- Ad-click attribution: if you reach Champi from a Meta ad (Facebook or Instagram), we receive an ad-click identifier to measure advertising effectiveness.
- Technical data: cryptographically hashed IP address and preferred language.
- Usage data: interaction type, search queries, and usage metrics. Phone numbers are stored as a cryptographic hash (SHA-256) in usage metrics, not in plain text.
2. How we use the information
- Display provider profiles in the public directory and in search results.
- Facilitate direct contact between clients and providers.
- Display anonymous reviews on provider profiles.
- Improve the service through usage pattern analysis (always using anonymized data).
3. Public information
The following provider information is public and visible to anyone:
- Name
- Service type
- Approximate location (district and region)
- Service description
- Years of experience
- Payment methods
- Average rating and reviews
- Profile photos
Your WhatsApp number is not openly displayed: it is shared with interested clients through the bot, and on the website it is only visible to logged-in users, subject to daily lookup limits (see the "How we protect your data" section).
Providers agree that this information will be public when they register with Champi.
4. Data sharing (processors)
Champi does not sell or rent your personal information. To operate the platform we share limited data with service providers (data processors), by category and purpose:
- Identity verification: the document number is checked against authorized RENIEC/SUNAT data providers (PeruAPI, Factiliza).
- Fraud prevention: phone number validation (IPQualityScore, USA).
- Language processing: the text of your messages is processed with Google (Gemini) to understand your requests.
- Ad measurement: when you arrive from an ad, we send pseudonymized events (hashed phone number) to Meta to measure advertising effectiveness.
- Infrastructure: hosting and database (Google Cloud, Neon, Cloudflare) and error monitoring (Sentry).
These processors are bound by security and confidentiality obligations and are not allowed to use your data for their own purposes. We may also disclose information when required by law or a competent authority.
5. International data transfer
In accordance with article 15 of Peruvian Law No. 29733, we inform you that your data is stored and processed on servers located outside Peru: the main database is located in Brazil, and part of the infrastructure (Cloudflare, Google, Meta, IPQualityScore, Sentry) operates in the United States and on global infrastructure. These transfers take place with contractual and security safeguards that ensure an adequate level of protection for your data.
6. Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), encryption of sensitive stored data (identity documents and conversations), and anonymization of usage data via cryptographic hash.
7. User rights (ARCO)
In accordance with Peru's Personal Data Protection Law (Ley No. 29733), you have the right to:
- Access your personal data.
- Rectify incorrect information.
- Request the deletion (cancellation) of your profile and data.
- Object to the processing of your data.
To exercise these rights, write to hola@champi.pe or contact us via WhatsApp. For your security, we will verify your identity before handling the request. Statutory response windows: access, twenty (20) business days; rectification, cancellation, or objection, ten (10) business days.
8. Data retention and deletion
Your profile data and photos are deleted within 30 days of account deletion. Bot conversations are kept encrypted for up to 12 months for support and audit purposes and are then deleted. Operational logs are kept for 30 days. Anonymized usage data is retained indefinitely.
When you delete your account, your profile, photos, and conversations are deleted; we keep only an encrypted identifier of your phone and document to prevent fraud and duplicate re-registrations.
9. How we protect your data
Champi Perú implements multiple layers of security to protect our users:
- WhatsApp verification: Professionals' contact numbers are only visible to users verified via OTP code sent through WhatsApp.
- Access logging: Each time a verified user views a professional's contact information, it is securely logged to identify any misuse.
- Daily limits: Each user has a limit on the number of contacts they can view per day, preventing automated or abusive use of the platform.
- Block list: Numbers reported for fraud or abusive behavior are permanently blocked from the platform.
- Anti-scraping protection: We implement rate limiting and origin protection to prevent automated data extraction.
10. Modifications
This policy may be updated periodically. Changes will be published on this page with the update date. This policy is published in Spanish and in other languages for reference; in case of discrepancy between versions, the Spanish version shall prevail.
